There are two disks in this Draco distribution. The first, "Draco SYS",
should be your boot disk. It does NOT use the WorkBench, and does use an
interlaced screen with a color set which I find usable. The second disk is
this one, "Draco Other" and contains documentation and sample programs.
After reading this file, you should read 'Introduction', which should
get you started using Draco, and explain some of the things that I have
provided for you to use and examine. Next would come 'WhyDraco', which
gives a short comparison of Draco, C, and Pascal, and explains why I
wrote Draco. Finally, you should dig into the various subdirectories on
this disk, probably starting by either reading the documentation
(language.doc) or examining and compiling the various sample programs
(starting with those in directory samples).
COPYRIGHT NOTICE
The original Draco materials on these disks are copyrighted, and may
only be used and copied as described here. In particular, you may NOT
remove the copyright notices from them. You may give away as many copies
of the disks as you please, so long as the copyright and shareware
notices are maintained. I request that you always give out only complete
disks as I have set them up. This will reduce the uncertainty as to what
people have and how they are set up. The following items are
specifically copyrighted:
the Draco compiler
the CRT library
the Ded editor
all documentation
The Quest material you may do with as you wish, but if you do decide to
produce a scenario for it, or graphicize it (e.g. along the lines of
graphics Hack), I would appreciate receiving a copy.
SHAREWARE NOTICE
If you find these materials of use and would like to encourage me to
improve them and add to them, you should consider sending a donation. My
current plans include porting my linker, significantly improving the
quality of the code produced by the compiler (the CP/M-80 version
produces code on par with the best I've seen for ANY CP/M compiler),
adding some kind of data abstraction facility, porting a graphics D & D
game system, porting a couple of games that I currently have lying
around, improving the editor, etc.
